Howe's About That Then!

Being a Campaign Wargame reflecting the late Unpleasantness in the Colonies

How is it that the loudest yelps for liberty come from the drivers of negroes?

Update Notice!

23 January 2009

Despite promises I'm afraid the campaign and toys have had to take a back seat. Elizabeth Ivy Croucher popped into the world at 00.06hrs 20 January and is so cute she has distracted me from wargaming!  Prior to her birth I was painting like a demon, including Lee's Legion. When things settle down a bit I'll sort this site out and post the long-promised pics.

 Welcome, one and all!

I have set up this Winky to amuse myself in those quiet times between painting and being nagged to do some decorating (or more likely feeding, nappy changing, dribble wiping etc). I hope it inspires people to to learn more about this fascinating period of history, or better, start re-enacting it with toy soldiers.

All the games are played at the Frome Wassail Games club (Frome in Somerset; a wetter version of Alabama), which is an odd mix of leadpushers and others that play odd non-military boardgames. Us sensible wargamers, the Wassail Beagles, play a whole range of periods from Gladiators to WW1 Aerial Combat and they are gradually going on this site:

We are open to new members and meet at the George Hotel every Thursday from 7pm with options for weekend games too.

If you have any comments or questions, feel free to email (please prefix the subject title with HOWE).

Happy Gaming!
